ELEFSINAThe Elefsina  Indoor Sport Hall belongs to the Municipality of Elefsina, was built in 1989 and is run by the Municipality. The initial plan for the hall was to build as an open air swimming pool but eventually this plan was abandoned and the existing indoor sport hall was constructed. For this reason the floor of the sport hall is at a depth of 4,2 m from ground level. No renovation has taken place in the building. The city of Elefsina is situated in the Region of Attica at a distance of about 21 km from Athens, has a population of 30.140 inhabitants and belongs to the climatic zone B, as defined by the Greek Building Codes having the following climatic characteristics: July – Aug, mean min temp 23o C, mean max temp 32o C, abs min temp 16o C, abs max temp 42o C and Jan – Feb mean min temp 7o C, mean max temp 14o C, abs min temp -3,2o C, abs max temp 22o C.  The Sport Hall houses the local basket ball team and can accommodate approximately 600 spectators (seating and standing).

The Sport Hall is located in a lot in the center of the city, but there is no shading from other buildings or physical obstacles due to the fact that the adjacent building are of low height and the lot of the building is next to a public area characterized as “small park”. The central axis of the building has a North/East – South/West orientation. The hall consists of two abutting buildings. The main building has an area of 1295 m2 with an average height of 10.8 m and abutting to this is a smaller orthogonal building housing a training/warm up room for the athletes. The athletes changing rooms, wc’s, referees’ room and offices are located underneath the spectator seats. The mail building has an orthogonal shape covered by a parabolic roof, is constructed using a combination of concrete walls, polycarbonate surfaces and polyurethane panels and the roof is made of sandwich panels with 5-cm polyurethene in between. The smaller building (abutting the main building) is an orthogonal prefabricated poyurethane panel construction, used as warming-up facility.

FARSALAThe Sport Hall of Farsala belongs to the Municipality of Farsala, was built in 1985 and is run by the Municipality. No renovation has taken place in the building apart from painting the inside and outside walls. The city of Farsala has a population of 18.545 inhabitants, it is situated in the Region of Thessaly in Central Greece at a distance of 277 km from Athens and belongs to the climatic zone C, according to the Greek Building Codes, having the following climatic characteristics: July – Aug, mean min temp 17o C, mean max temp 33o C, abs min temp 11o C, abs max temp 45o C and Jan – Feb mean min temp 1o C, mean max temp 11o C, abs min temp -22o C, abs max temp 23o C.  The Sport Hall houses the local basket ball and volleyball teams and can accommodate approximately 470 spectators (seating and standing).

The Sport Hall is located in a lot in the outskirts of the city and there is no shading from other buildings or physical obstacles. The central axis of the building has a North – South orientation. The hall consists of two abutting buildings. The main building has an orthogonal shape with an area of 1355 m2  and an average height of 7,9 m and abutting to this is a smaller orthogonal building housing the warehouse, WC’s, boiler room, athletes changing rooms, referee’s room and offices. Both buildings are made from prefabricated concrete elements both for horizontal and vertical surfaces and the roof of the smaller building was covered with roof tiles at a later stage.

 

INDOOR SWIMMING POOL OF NEA SMYRNI flag_gr

NEA SMIRNIThe Indoor swimming pool of NeaSmyrni belongs to the Municipality of NeaSmyrni, a suburb of Athens, was built in 1975 and is run by the Municipality. Initially it was constructed as an open air swimming pool, but in 1996 it was covered and took its existing form. No renovation has taken place ever since in the building. The city of NeaSmyni is one of the major areas of Athens, it is situated at a distance of about 3 km from the center of Athens, has a population of 73.090 inhabitants (not including the no of people that live in the area but are not locally registered) and belongs to the climatic zone B of the Greek territory having the following climatic characteristics: July – Aug, mean min temp 23oC, mean max temp 32oC, abs min temp 16oC, abs max temp 42oC and Jan – Feb mean min temp 7oC, mean max temp 14oC, abs min temp -3,2oC, abs max temp 22oC.  The Swimming pool is part of a complex of sport facilities of the municipality and is open to public and for local swimming and water polo clubs. It can accommodate approximately 540 spectators (seating).

The Swimming Pool building is located in a lot in the center of the city. The central axis of the building has a North/East – South/West orientation. The hall consists of 4 abutting buildings. The main building  contains two swimming pools one 50×25 m with average depth of 5m and one smaller 12,5×10,5 m with average depth 3 m. Abutting to the main building is a smaller orthogonal building housing the athletes’ changing rooms, the wc’s, the boiler room, the first aid/nursery room, the referees’ room and the offices. The main building is covered by a parabolic roof, and is constructed using a combination of concrete walls, polycarbonate surfaces and polyurethane panels and the roof is made of metal sheets, insulation material and plywood. The smaller building (abutting the main building) is an orthogonal concrete/brick masonry construction. The two more buildings of small size are used as warehouse and athletes gym.


 

CEM LA BORDETA flag_sp

CEM La Bordeta is a municipal sport facility located in the city of Barcelona. No renovations have been conducted in La Bordeta since their construction in 2006. The owner of the building is Barcelona City Council and the facility is managed by Institut Barcelona Esports and Atles Esports. The facility has more than 4,000 square meter and is composed by 1 swimming pool for adults (25 x 10 m) , 1 swimming pool for kids (8,5 x 5 m), indoor sports court and several multiactivity rooms.

 

 

 

 

 

Sport and Physical Activity Service Sports Centre (SAF) flag_sp

SAF is a large University Sports Centre situated in Cerdanyola del Vallès, which is located between Terrassa and Barcelona. No major renovations have been conducted since their construction in 1993. SAF has a covered sports hall, three saunas,  two heated indoor swimming pools and solarium, four squash courts,  indoor rock-climbing walls, physical fitness room and three activity rooms. The main swimming pool is 25 metres in length and 16,67 metres wide and the learner pool is 16,67 metres in length and 6 metres wide.

 

 

 

 

CLUB POLIESPORTIU PUIGCERDÀ flag_sp

Club Poliesportiu Puigcerdà is a municipal sport complex located in nordern of Catalonia and near the border with France. The owner of the building is Puigcerdà City Council, but the facility is managed by the Club. The sport complex is composed by 4 annexed buildings (ice rink, indoor court, swimming pool and fitness rooms) and an additional building (indoor court) constructed 2 years ago. The pilot building of STEP-2-SPORT project is the ice rink. The ice rink was built on 1982, and since then no major renovations have been conducted. The size of the ice rink is 56 m x 26 m, where plays one of the most important ice hockey clubs of Spain. International skating and curling competitions are hosted in Puigcerdà.

CEM Vallirana is a municipal sport facility situated in the outskirts of Barcelona that is in operation since 2002. The owner of the building is Vallirana City Council and the facility is managed by Llop Gestió de l’Esport. The total gross floor area is 4,000 square meter and the facilities are composed by one semi-olympic pool (25 meters long by 12,5 meters wide), one pool for kids (12,5 meters long by 4 meters wide), spa pools, one fitness room and two multiactivity rooms.

 Fum d’Estampa is a municipal sport center located in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a town joined at the outskirt of Barcelona. The sport building was built on 1989 and since then no major renovations have been conducted in the building. The owner of the building is Hospitalet de Llobregat City Council and the facility is managed by Esport a Punt. The total gross floor area is 5,350 square meter and the facilities are composed by 1 indoor pool for adults (25 x 12,5 m), 1 indoor leisure pool (11 x 9 m), indoor sports court, one fitness room and one multiactivity room.

PALA VOLCANThe PalaVolcan is an indoor sports arena located in Acireale. It has a capacity of 1.200 spectators. It hosts the home matches of the Acireale Calcio a 5, a football team which plays in the Italian Serie A2 Championship, of the Polisportiva Basket Acireale, a basketball team which plays in the Serie C Championship, of the Aquilia Acireale, a volleyball team which plays in the Serie D Championship, as well as the Società Sportiva Pallamano Acireale which plays in the Serie A2 Championship of handball. ATHLETIC CLUBThe Athletic Club is a club with large, air-conditioned and bright spaces. The building exists since about 1980. Recently, it has been refurbished and adapted with sufficiently new sports facilities. The total gross area is 682 square meters and it is composed by training rooms, fitness rooms, a sauna, a Turkish bath, a relaxation area and a solarium that all together create a healthy space where people can forget the daily stress.

 

 

 

 


 

SPORTS HALL DUNAV, PLOVDIV flag_bul_over

DUNAV Sports Hall “Dunav” is a municipal sports building owned by the Municipality of Plovdiv, managed by the Municipal Children’s Complex organization and rented by 4 sports clubs. The building is constructed in 1989. It is built from columns of steel supported structure and brick walls with thickness of 0.25 m. Last renovations happened in 2012 when a partial windows renovations and new roof has been done. As a result new PVC windows with total area of 38.07 m² and U < 1.7 W/m²K have been installed and also new high energy inefficient galvanized sheet roof in order to avoid leakages.
The sport`s building is consisted of two main indoor sport premises used by four sports clubs – volleyball, gymnastics, aerobics and martial arts. The first one is used for gymnastics and volleyball and has total gross floor area of 355 m² and total volume of 1349 m³. The second indoor sports facility has gross floor area of 209 m² and total volume of 793 m³. The sports buildings also includes bathrooms, offices and other technical premises with total gross floor area of 146 m² and volume of 416 m³. All premises are heated, except the boiler room and a small stock. The heating in the building is centralized. All premises are heated, except the boiler room and a small stock.

 

MULTIFUNCTIONAL SPORTS HALL, PLOVDIV flag_bul_over

SCHOOL OF SPORTSThe multifunctional sports hall is a municipal sports building owned by the Municipality of Plovdiv. It is constructed in 1986, and the last renovation happened in 2004 when roof water proofing has been installed in order to avoid leakages. The sports building is managed by 3 private sports clubs – weight lifting club, boxing club and martial arts club. The whole building is characterized as highly inefficient with very old infrastructure, which is a prerequisite for high heat losses.
During coldest winter months it is impossible to maintain the necessary hygiene temperature, which leads to the closure of the building and to the termination of all sessions. The heating used to be centralized till 2011, but since than it has been stopped as sports clubs find difficulties paying the bills. Nowadays the heating in the indoor premises is done with high energy intensive old electrical heaters and air conditioners. There is a large consumption of hot water, heated by 1 x 200 l electrical water heater and 3 x 150 l electrical water heaters.

 

ATHLETICS SPORTS HALL “LOKOMOTIV”, PLOVDIV flag_bul_over

LOCOMOTIV SPRTS HALL_BGSports Hall “Lokomotiv” is a municipal sports building owned by the Municipality of Plovdiv, rented by Athletics Sport Club “Lokomotiv”. The building is constructed in 70`s.The building represents a 120 m long sports hall with small entrance hall. It is built from columns of steel supported structure and brick walls with thickness of 0.25 m. The floor of the building is entirely located on rammed earth base. The ceiling of the entrance hall is a concrete slab with a thickness of 0.12 m., the sports ceiling is structured from suspended steel supporting structure with profiles of extruded PVC. The roof is sloped, made of galvanized steel sheet. The door entrances are made of steel and the windows are single glazed steel windows. The sports hall has total gross floor area of 1502 m² and total volume of 6832,38 m³. There is no heating system. All of the electricity consumption is used by the lighting system.

It was recommended by Ministry of the sport and youthq like the owner. National Sports Academy “Vasil Levski “ is a higher education institution, which specializes in teaching, coaching, physical education. It was established in 1942 by King Boris as the Higher School for Physical Education and renamed to the Higher Institute for Physical Education and Sport during 1953-95. It has variety of educational programs, research activities and study and sport facilities.The students is graduated on the levels of Bachelors, Masters, Doctor Degree. Part time learning and foreign students distance learning; The NSA performs its activities on the principle of academic autonomy in compliance with the Constitution and the Laws of the Republic of Bulgaria. The academic autonomy is displayed in the academic freedom, self-government and inviolability of the NSA territory. Any order or Public authorities are allowed to access to the buildings and premises of Academy only by the Rector’s permission.Activities of enterprises, foundations, institutes and other legal entities or with European Programs.Projects are permitted on the premises of the Academy by contract in compliance with the Academy by contract in compliance with the State Property Acts.

OSwimming pool “Madara”is the one of the main sporting facilities of NSA, in which obligatory courses for every student have to be done.Trainers and water sport activities also are conducting in this pool. For instance, the warmest month of the year is August with an average temperature of 23.0 °C. In January occurs the lowest average temperature of the whole year 11.6 °C. The average annual temperature in Barreiro is 17 °C.
The swimming center, built in 1974 and inaugurated in 1975, is owned and managed by Barreiro City Council. The building was built without taking in account energy criteria. Nevertheless, some step-by-step refurbishments were conducted along the way. The most recent one, 2013, was focused on windows.

The swimming center, inaugurated in 1999, is owned and managed by Alcochete City Council had never had any major renovation. Nevertheless, since the inauguration there have been some improvements for instance the implementation of the Solar Thermal System in 2002.

STALOWA WOLA

stalowa-wolaAs the swimming pool located in Stalowa Wola was built in 1959 (with further upgrades), it shows significant heat losses through building envelope as well as through ventilation system. The U value of each envelope does not fulfill the requirements of the polish regulations, which also translates to higher energy costs. The energy source is a district heating system. It supplies the heating system as well as domestic hot water system.

In order to reduce energy consumption there will be carried out works concerning 4 areas:

  • the envelope of the building,
  • HVAC systems,
  • installation of renewable energy sources,
  • lighting

 

 SWIMMING POOL IN  OZAROW MAZOWIECKI flag_po_over

OABOWThe indoor swimming pool was built in 2000. It is owned by a Municipality of Ożarów Mazowiecki. Swimming pool is located in Ożarów Mazowiecki, in the central part of Poland, 20 km from Warsaw. There is a complex of swimming pools and some accompanied facilities. Building was constructed according to the original Spanish documentation adjusted to the Polish conditions. There are two swimming pools, in the part containing the pool halls: a swimming pool with dimensions of 25 m x 12,5 m (area 312,7 m2) and a variable depth from 1.35 m to 1,80 m, leisure pool 75 m2 with a variable depth from 0.7 to 1.3 m for learning of swimming, landing area for planar slide and children’s pool with 24 m2 of surface. Moreover there is jacuzzi and other water attractions like 60 m long waterslide. Building is very well maintained and all building elements and indoor installations components are kept in good condition. The net floor area is 2 972,67 m2. The amount of accesses to the swimming pool is equal to 90 731 per year.

 

SWIMMING POOL IN HAJNOWKA flag_po_over

HAJNOWKAThe indoor swimming pool is located in Hajnówka, in the eastern part of Poland. The building was built in 2005, the last renovation was conducted in 2014. Indoor swimming pool building is adjoined to the existing sports hall and it is owned by the Municipality of Hajnówka. The upper part of the building is a pool hall, covered with laminated wood beams, the lower part of the building with an entrance hall and accompanying rooms. Buildings overlap each other and penetrate creating spatial composition. It is a brick building, made in traditional technology. The building is with a partial basement. There are two swimming pools, in the part containing the pool halls: a swimming pool with dimensions of 25 m x 16 m (area 400 m2) and a variable depth from 1.8 m to 2.0 m, leisure pool with a variable depth from 0.8 to 1.6 m, landing area for planar slide and children’s pool with a depth of 0.45 to 0.65 m in total 200 m2. Total annual uses is equal to 114 048.

ZAMBROWThe indoor swimming pool was constructed in 2001. Building is situated in Zambrów, in the north-east part of Poland. This sport facility is owned by the Municipality of Zambrów. The basic construction is a reinforced concrete structure with fulfillment of light panel wall. The roof is made of wood construction and insulated with mineral wool. The building is with a partial basement. There are two swimming pools: a swimming pool with dimensions of 25 m x 12,5 m (area 250 m2) and a variable depth from 1.4 m to 1,9 m, leisure pool with dimensions of 12,5 m x 6,0 m (75 m2) and variable depth from 0.6 to 1.0 m, landing area for planar slide and children’s pool with a depth of 0.45 to 0.65 m. There are many other facilities as tribunes for 130 spectators, coffee shop, hairdresser, fitness. Total annual uses is equal to 69 516.

Båstad Sport Center is a sport facility located in Sweden (Swedish climate zone 3) with both indoor and outdoor tennis courts, gym, restaurant, hostel, etc. There are two indoor tennis halls (3 +3 courts). In total six buildings, with construction years; 1930, 1983 and 1991. The facility is owned by the tennis club and hosts training camps, competitions and tennis schools.

Örkelljunga Swimming Pool. An unusual building design, with its distinctive triangle shape, makes Örkelljunga Swimming Pool very recognizable. It was built in 1970 and renovated in 1994. The large window areas gives plenty of daylight indoors, but also less than optimal heat insulation. Windows were replaced in 1994. The facility includes 25 m swimming pool, gym and bowling lanes.
